Irish Youth Circus Gathering
Cloughjordan Circus Club are delighted to be the instigator and host of the now annual Irish Youth Circus Gathering. The event brings together young people with a shared interest in circus from Youth Circus Organisations from all over the island of Ireland.
Young people take part from Derry, Galway, Dublin, Belfast, Cork and of course Tipperary in a shared weekend full of circus workshops, learning and fun.
The whole community of Cloughjordan welcomes our guests. As well as a packed circus workshop programme, social events include a BBQ, board games night, and a Saturday night cabaret performance in St Kieran’s Hall.
The event is made possible with workshops and facilitators from Cloughjordan Circus Club and all participating groups including:
Dublin Circus Project; Circusful, Belfast; Galway Community Circus; In Your Space Circus and Cork Circus Factory.
IRISH YOUTH CIRCUS GATHERING 2025
The Irish Youth Circus Gathering returns to it’s Workshop-based format in 2025, after last year’s spectacular Crate-A-Show-In-A-Weekend version. Starting with Welcome Games and a Circus Jam, we then have a slew of exciting and dynamic workshops in various circus arts where all the participants and tutors can swap skills and learn new tips and tricks. We are really excited to be hosting Joe Dieffenbacher this weekend, who will perform his show ‘Bloons’, as well as deliver workshops in slapstick to the participants.
OUTREACH PROGRAMME
Our Gathering Outreach Programme will run on Tuesday 11th to Friday 14th November 2025. We will run circus taster workshops with the local schools and community groups from the area, with a view to developing a longer term projects once they get a handle on how amazing cisruc is for so many reasons.

WEEKEND PROGRAMME NOVEMBER 14th – 16th 2025
We will be welcoming young participants as well as youth circus facilitators to Cloughjordan from Circusful (Belfast), In Your Space Circus (Derry), Circus Factory (Cork), and Galway Community Circus. They will be joined by members of Cloughjordan Circus Club for a fun packed weekend of circus workshops, social events and performances.
What to expect if you are coming to the gathering?
A full programme of Circus workshops to choose from throughout the day!
Choose from: Tableslide, Juggling, Unicycle, Acrobalance, Chair Stack, Funambulism (that’s wire walking with a long pole!), Performance, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg!
Saturday Night Social Evening
Our good friends at Riot Rye supply us with freshly made local pizzas, and we are hosted by the good people at the Food Hub. Along with board games and desserts, there are plenty of laughs to be had all evening long!
Public Show on Saturday 15th November at 6:15 PM in St. Kieran’s Hall
A clown offers balloons to everyone but nothing goes right! The balloons pop, explode in his pants, fly away, abuse him, transform him, his coat and his hat attack him. But he also meets the woman of his dreams … Bloons is an absurd, silly and imaginative show, filled with comic props, puppets, improvisation, dance and physical comedy.
Joe Dieffenbacher is a physical comedian with a vivid imagination, lots of balloons, and clothes that love to antagonise him.
IYCG is funded by Tipperary Co Co Festival and Events Scheme and The Arts Council.
PREVIOUS CIRCUS YOUTH GATHERINGS
In 2024 The Gathering came about with great support from Circus Explored, where the participants from Cloughjordan, Galway, Belfast and Derry put together their own show over the weekend and performed it in Public at the end of the event. The recorded elements are included in the overall Circus Explored video for this year.
